Snowbirds, Pancake Suppers & a contest (or two)

March 1, 2026

Welcome!

Have you seen the snow birds flitting around the snow drifts? It occurred to me last week that I have no idea what they are or what they look like up-close as I have only ever seen them as a flock. I’ve been told that they are "Dark-eyed Junco’s” and they are on the move to the North, so Spring might be here sooner than we think :)

Thank you to everyone who has shared a memorable mistake - I’ve heard everything from bungled travel itineraries (Charlottetown vs Charlotte, NC), one or two wrong turns in Amsterdam leading to the Red Light District, and more. There's still to email me with your story - I will donate $5/story to the Tidnish Cross Roads Community Assn (up to $100) and will do a random draw for a $25 gift certificate.

Race to 1000 - We did it! - we’re at 1,033 subscribers, thank you all for your support!

A note from SchoolsPlus at TRA —

“Did you know there’s a SchoolsPlus team right inside Tatamagouche Regional Academy?  We're the folks who quietly make sure students and families have what they need — a bit of food for the weekend, a warm hoodie, shampoo, deodorant, connections to services and supports or just someone to help navigate life’s trickier moments.

Our School Food Pantry and Clothing & Hygiene Cupboard is available to students and families at TRA.

We’re gratefully accepting:

  • Non-perishable food items

  • Clean, gently used clothing & footwear (all sizes welcome)

  • Hygiene items like deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, etc.

SchoolsPlus TRA Pantry also has an account set up at North Shore Variety. Set up by a supportive community member. She donates monthly so if our students need anything, We can get it for them.  Community members are welcome to donate funds at North Shore Variety that will go directly back to supporting our students.

Every little bit makes a real difference. Thanks, North Shore Area — you always show up.”
