Wild Blueb's & Exhibition days

August 8, 2025

Welcome!

Wow, this is coming out a whole lot later than I had hoped, but I was reliving some of my youth with my nephew at the Provincial Exhibition earlier today.

One of the events that I most look forward to every year is the Wild Blueberry Tea at The Fraser Art Gallery - it’s one of those events that takes me back in time to what socials around the countryside likely would have been when my grandmother was a child.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their memories of former eating establishments along the North Shore - I have heard a lot about places I remember fondly and others that were ‘before my time’ or not in areas that I would have travelled growing up. More to come on that :)

P.S. (again) my apologies to the Pugwash Fire Dept - the paper edition of TNSN incorrectly announced their Mackerel Tournament from August 16-17 … it will be for mackerel only, not striped bass.

Race to 1000 - We’re at 912 subscribers. Each time we add 100 subscribers, we will have a draw for a prize from a local business. All subscribers will be entered in the draw, and if you have referred someone by forwarding this email and them subscribing, you will receive a bonus ballot. Please share :)

A Few Nuggets … ICYMI

  • From now through to the end of August, the 1st Tatamagouche Girl Guides will be collecting bottles and cans to help their patrol attend the 2026 Discover Camp. You can mention ‘Girl Guide Camp’ when you drop them off, or call/text 902-956-9638 or 902-957-0062 to arrange pick-up.

  • It was moving day for two beloved businesses on Main St - ButterTrail Naturals and NORA Home & Gifts both made big moves - NORA is now in the Oddfellows Building and ButterTrail now calls NORA’s former space home 🙂 Best wishes to all involved - love to see a vibrant Main St!

  • Tatamagouche Water Utility customers are asked to conserve water during these dry days - for more information, please call Public Works at 902-897-3175, opt 2.

  • Malagash Salt Mine Museum hosted a very successful ‘Magnificent Malagash Festival’ and inviting folks to tour the museum to see their new display of indigenous artifacts, some of which are over 5000 years old!

Thanks to all of the volunteers in our communities that keep us safe.

Jobs & Opportunities … please tell them that you heard about the position in The North Shore Nuggets ;)
